Hand in Hand Hypnobirthing deliver a complete in-depth antenatal training programme designed to release fear and build confidence during birth.

I am a qualified KG Hypnobirthing teacher covering Edinburgh, West Lothian and the Falkirk area.

The sessions offered are designed to increase parents’ awareness of what physical and biological changes occur during birth and how using relaxation techniques can give parents the confidence to feel a sense of calm and control throughout pregnancy, labour and beyond.

Hypnobirthing is a complete antenatal programme which teaches mums and dads the physiology of a woman’s body during labour and childbirth, the relationship between the mind and body an how to apply relaxation techniques using self-hypnosis. It enables a woman to work with her body, which is naturally designed to give birth, and to replace fear with a calm confidence. When calm, her body produces the hormone oxytocin, which helps her uterine muscles work more effectively and efficiently. Oxytocin triggers the production of endorphins, which are often referred to as nature’s pain relief, so the body is perfectly designed to give birth efficiently and comfortably; the perfect system is already in place. It promotes natural childbirth with less need for medical intervention (as and where appropriate) which is empowering for both mother and father in helping them make informed decisions throughout labour. Hypnobirthing aims to create a calm and peaceful environment for welcoming a new baby into the world and is therefore beneficial for mother, father and baby too.

As well as teaching hypnobirthing, I also run pregnancy relaxation classes. This is a  4-week block of classes designed to encourage mums to take time out for relaxation. Each week covers an aspect of pregnancy and childbirth, mindset exercises, breathing technique and scripts using visualisations to help you relax deeply.
